This March, Grade 7 students at Harvest Mission School and Government High School Sarbura
in Dimapur had a special introduction to something completely new — the world of Arduino and
microcontrollers.
Many students had never heard of Arduino before. It’s a small but powerful device called a
microcontroller, which is used in all kinds of smart technologies — from automated lights to
robots. In this session, students learned how it works and why it’s so useful in real life.
They explored the different parts of the Arduino board — like the power supply, input/output
pins, and the processing chip. It was a hands-on experience that helped students understand
the technology behind many tools they use every day.
In Northeast India, such experiences are rare. Schools often don’t have the resources or
opportunities to offer practical tech learning. That’s why this session felt so important — it
opened up a new world for students who are full of ideas and potential.
The excitement was real. Many students said they now want to learn more and maybe even
build their own projects someday. And that’s what App Skilling is all about — helping students
dream, build, and grow through technology.
By the end of the school year, these students will take things even further by connecting their
Arduino projects with Microsoft Power Apps — combining hardware with powerful app
development tools to solve real-world problems.
